Who we are
Urban Memory is a heritage research practice rooted in place, public engagement, and cultural storytelling. We work across the cultural, academic, and civic sectors to explore how histories—particularly those embedded in our buildings, landscapes, and institutions—continue to shape the ways we live, work and connect today.
We specialise in inclusive, research-led approaches that uncover the layered narratives of places. Our work spans exhibitions, interpretation, talks, walking tours, community-led projects, and strategic consultancy. We collaborate with organisations, artists, and communities to develop thoughtful outcomes that foster deeper relationships between people and place.
At the heart of Urban Memory’s work is a commitment to Inclusive Heritage, Climate Justice, and Human Rights. We explore the intersections between equality, environment, and the built past, using heritage as a critical lens through which to address contemporary social, cultural, and environmental challenges. Our work supports the ambitions of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—especially those focused on sustainable cities and communities, quality education, reduced inequalities, and climate action.
Urban Memory aims to make heritage more open, reflective, and responsive—supporting clients and communities to create culturally relevant and socially just interpretations of the past.
